Transfer Your Embroidery Designs From Your Memory Cards or Floppy Disks
To A CD or USB
Use Your Janome Designs on Your Pfaff Embroidery Machine
Change The Format To Fit Your New Embroidery Machine
(Not Supported For Bernina ART Formats)
Do you have some old embroidery memory cards for a machine that you sold years ago?  Have you inherited some cards or floppy disks but have no machine to use them on?  Do you have some floppy disks containing designs, but your computer does not have a floppy drive?  Would you like to use the designs, but have no way to access them on your new machine?  A lot of people are in the same boat!  I was approached by a lady a few months ago who had a Janome memory card that was very special to her.  She now has a Pfaff embroidery machine, and the card does not work on the new machine.  She asked if I could read the card, convert the designs from JEF to VP3, and write them to a CD so she could use them.  I was glad to help.  Several weeks ago, a customer asked me to read seven 1994-vintage HUS-format cards from a Viking machine that she no longer uses, convert them to PES format, and write them to a CD so she could use the designs on her new Brother embroidery machine.  I gave her overnight turnaround on the seven cards and returned them and her new CD of embroidery designs to her the next day.  She now has hundreds of new designs for her Brother machine – many of which she had previously embroidered in the 1990s on her Viking machine.   A little later, a customer asked me to convert four cards (three JEF cards and a Viking SEW card) to PES format and put them on a CD.  Her cards and new CD were in the mail the next day.  She was thrilled.  Since then, I have read, converted, and wrote CDs/USBs for as many as 30 cards for one customer, all with overnight turnaround. I can now take your Bernina Artista or other readable card and transfer the design to a Brother/Baby Lock embroidery card (extra Brother card purchase required).
I have two reader/writer boxes for embroidery cards.  One reads and writes PES and HUS format designs for Brother, Babylock, Bernina Deco, Simplicity, White, Viking 1+, and Rose embroidery machines.  The other reader/writer box has three slots and reads and writes all of the above plus Pfaff 7570, Pfaff 2140, Bernina Artista, Bernina 650, Janome 5000, Janome 8000, Janome 9000, Janome SnS I (but not Janome 1000x/11000), Elna 9006, Elna CE20/8006, and Kenmore 1900x.  Some Singer cards (XL100 and XL1000) can be read and written with an adapter that I do not currently have (so Singer cards are not supported).  Because of the proprietary nature of the Bernina ART format, I cannot write or convert to ART, ART5, or ART6 format.  Sorry, Bernina users.  I can’t read some Brother Disney cards because the designs are proprietary.  Ask me first before buying.  Also, I cannot read Viking D cards, but I can read the smaller Viking 512K cards (about 2 inches by 2.5 inches).
The way this works is as follows:  You do a “Buy It Now” on this auction for the number of embroidery cards that you want to have transferred to a CD or USB drive (1 to 20 cards – more by special arrangement).  I send you my mailing address, and you package the cards carefully (no booklets, plastic cases, etc.) and send them to me.  You enclose any special requests (convert to another format, put on separate CDs/USBs, etc).  If you want more than 1 CD, they are an additional price.  If you want more than one USB drive, they are an additional price.  Buy them when you buy the card transfer service.  I make sure the cards or floppies are working, readable and confirm that they can be transferred to a CD or USB.  If not, I return them to you and refund all but the shipping cost.  If the cards are okay, I read the embroidery files, convert them to another format (if requested), and write them to a CD with a personalized color label or a USB.  The cards are not affected by this process.  If the cards happen to be the rewriteable type, I can, with your permission, write the converted designs back to the card in the new format.  This is especially helpful if you have a rewriteable Viking HUS card and need the new designs to work on a Brother in PES format (the card fits both machines).  The cards and the CD/USB are mailed to your address in a bubble-lined mailing envelope within two days (usually one day).  I pay shipping back to you.  I let you know they are on the way and provide tracking information.  Within a few days, you have your old cards back and a new CD/USB of the converted designs.  You can then use the designs on your embroidery machine.
I can also read your machine’s memory card (see list of those readable) and write it to a PES card for your Brother/Baby Lock machine.  Just buy the “1 Card to a PES Card” option.
The next question I get is “Is this legal?”  Use of the designs on the card is subject to the information provided by the manufacturer when you opened the card.  I opened a brand-new Brother No. 77, “Holidays” card last week.  It contained no restrictions on the use of the card.  Other manufacturers won’t let you sell an item embroidered with their design or modify the design in any way.  Others have no restriction on what you do with the design as long as you do not distribute it to others.  If you, as owner of the card, request that I take your card and copy your designs to your CD/USB, I can do it.  You are subject to the manufacturer’s restrictions on use of the card, if there are any restrictions.  What you do with the card and the CD/USB after I make the CD/USB is up to you.
Try to think about it this way.  When you put a card in an embroidery machine, you are copying it to the machine’s internal memory.  The machine converts the information on the card (the design) to the machine’s format to provide movement instructions to your embroidery unit so that it can guide the fabric under the needle and sew the design.  By reading, converting, and writing the design, you are doing the same thing.  Again, use of the card is subject to the manufacturer’s license.  If they specifically say “Don’t read this card and copy it to a CD/USB even for your own use.”, it is probably not a good idea.  It’s your card – you decide what you can and cannot do with it.
Can you trust me with your cards?  If you could check with the customers that I have done this for already, they would say “Yes, no problem!”.  Check out my Ebay feedback.  I did not get all those positive feedbacks by treating my customers unfairly.  Besides, you are protected by Ebay Buyer’s Protection on this auction.
Check through your old cards and find the ones that you want to use again.  Make sure that they are ones that I can read and write (see the second paragraph for a list of machines).  Buy the necessary number of card conversions on this auction and any additional CDs or USBs.  I will send my mailing address, and you will have your cards and a new CD/USB back in a few days.  Many satisfied customers so far.  You can be the next one.
Soon after you buy on this auction, you will may receive a message from Ebay saying that your item has been shipped.  That only means that I have printed the address label to return your card(s) and new CD/USB.  I am required by Ebay to send the item in one business day, which is impossible since you have not sent your cards yet.  Ignore the “Item Shipped” message for now.  I will let you know by Ebay Message when your package is shipped (it will be very soon after I receive your cards).  The tracking number will be the same as the one in the message.
I now offer a service to test your card to make sure it is working okay.  Are you getting errors?  Will your machine no longer read it?  I can check it to make sure that the problem is your card, and not your embroidery machine’s card reader.  Just mail the card to me and I will test it in one of my two PES2CARD reader/writers and my PE Design Basic writer.  I will then return the card to you (with insurance) along with a report on how it read and how it was written.  Don’t buy a new card if the problem is with your card writer or machine’s reader.
Return Policy – Since I test each media before I ship it, I am rarely asked to allow the return of design media.  However, a recent problem with a buyer over a DVD requires me to spell out my Return Policy in detail.  Ebay allows sellers to have a Return Policy separate from the standard Ebay policy.  Mine is as follows: You return the nonworking media to me at your expense (it currently costs me about $3 for postage to mail the media to you). I check the media on my computer when I receive it. If there is a problem with the media, I will send you a new media, pay for your First Class postage, and send you a heart-felt apology. If the media is good, I let you know and ask you what you want done with your working media. If you want it back, you will have to pay for postage. This way the buyer gets the designs they paid for and is not out any additional money.  I don’t give refunds – just replacement designs.  When I first started selling on Ebay, I took returns through the Ebay Return System. However, I found that people were buying the disks, copying them to their hard drives, claiming that they were “bad”, and returning the “good” disks to me at my cost. I quickly saw that I was being taken advantage of and changed my Return Policy to the one described above. If you buy the designs, I will make sure that you get a working media with working designs.  By bidding on this auction or clicking on “Buy It Now”, you confirm that you understand this policy and agree to it.  If you do not agree to this policy, PLEASE DO NOT BUY.
